We introduce the wave equation in fractal vibrating string in the framework of the local fractional calculus. Our particular attention is devoted to the technique of the local fractional Fourier series for processing these local fractional differential operators in a way accessible to applied scientists. By applying this technique we derive the local fractional Fourier series solution of the local fractional wave equation in fractal vibrating string and show the fundamental role of the Mittag-Leffler function.

The Wick-type stochastic KP equation is researched. The stochastic single-soliton solutions and stochastic multisoliton solutions are shown by using the Hermite transform and Darboux transformation.

Recently Liu applied the variational homotopy perturbation method for fractional initial boundary value problems. This note concludes that the method is a modified variational iteration method using He’s polynomials. A standard variational iteration algorithm for fractional differential equations is suggested.

This paper obtains the exact solutions of the ${\varphi }^4$ equation. The Lie symmetry approach along with the simplest equation method and the Exp-function method are used to obtain these solutions. As a simplest equation we have used the equation of Riccati in the simplest equation method. Exact solutions obtained are travelling wave solutions.

The structural acoustic problem considered in this study is the nonlinear resonant frequencies of a rectangular tube with one open end, one flexible end, and four rigid side walls A multiacoustic single structural modal formulation is derived from two coupled partial differential equations which represent the large amplitude structural vibration of the flexible end and acoustic pressure induced within the tube. The results obtained from the harmonic balance and homotopy perturbation approaches verified each other. The effects of vibration amplitude, aspect ratio, the numbers of acoustic modes and harmonic terms, and so forth, on the first two resonant natural frequencies, are examined.

The equations of magnetohydrostatic equilibria for a plasma in a gravitational field are investigated analytically. An investigation of a family of isothermal magnetostatic atmospheres with oneignorable coordinate corresponding to a uniform gravitational field in a plane geometry is carried out. These equations transform to a single nonlinear elliptic equation for the magnetic vector potential $u$. This equation depends on an arbitrary function of $u$ that must be specified. With choices of the different arbitrary functions, we obtain analytical solutions of elliptic equation using the Fan subequation method.
