About
Our department was created in April 1929, when the Tokyo Superior School of Technology was promoted to the Tokyo Institute of Technology. In April 1998, the department moved to the graduate school, together with the faculty staff of mathematics in the Department of Applied Physics. Our department works primarily in the following areas: analytic number theory, algebraic geometry, representation theory, differential geometry, topology, real and complex analysis, PDEs, nonlinear analysis, probability theory, etc.
