A ring homomorphism is enough to get nonstandard analysis

Abstract

It is shown that assuming the existence of a suitable ring homomorphism is enough to get an algebraic presentation of nonstandard methods that is equivalent to the popular superstructure approach, including $\kappa$-saturation.
